OUR HISTORY
Our roots in Citrus County run deep.
Our firm history at Bradshaw & Mountjoy is deeply tied to our family history, starting with Donald J. Bradshaw, our founding partner. When Mr. Bradshaw returned home from Naval service in World War II, he attended law school at University of Florida and was admitted to the Florida Bar in 1950. He travelled to Inverness, where he met his first law partner and set up practice.
In the mid-1970s, S. Michael Mountjoy joined the firm, and Bradshaw & Mountjoy was born. They established a specialty in real property, estate planning, probate and trust administration, and civil matters that pertained specifically to the community they cared about so deeply. They practiced together until Mr. Bradshaw passed away in 1985.
Carrying on the family tradition, R. Wesley Bradshaw attended law school and took up the mantle at his father’s practice in 1994 after working with the state attorney’s office as a criminal prosecutor.
Over the years, many other attorneys have worked closely with the firm, including partner Bill Edwards, the first full-time circuit judge from the county, and close friend Patricia Thomas, who shared the office space and went on to become the first female judge in Citrus county and the first female circuit judge.
Today, Bradshaw & Mountjoy continues to honor the original vision for the firm, handling specialized cases and sensitive matters with tact, sensitivity, and an objective dedication to doing what’s best for our clients and our community.
